This relentless exposure can foster a sense of comparison, often leading to frustration and discontent as we reflect on our journeys. For example, you might search your feed and find friends showcasing their seemingly perfect relationships with spouses, siblings, or children, each image telling a story of connection and joy.

You may question your experiences and wonder why forming deep bonds with your loved ones seems like an uphill battle.

It is common for parents to encounter difficulties in understanding their children’s evolving identities and perspectives during their teenage years. As teenagers assert their independence and form their beliefs, parents may feel disconnected, making it harder to maintain a positive and supportive relationship. These dynamics can result in challenges in communication and emotional connections between parents and their teenagers.

I’m Elizabeth Castro, you can call me Liz. I’m fluent in Spanish and English and love connecting with people. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Old Westbury, and I’m excitedly working towards my master’s in professional counseling at Southeastern University.
